After the tour vehicle picked you up within Iloilo City, you will be transported from the city to the farm in Orchard Valley, some nine kilometers away. This farm doesn’t only create awareness about organic farming but it takes a major step toward responsible tourism, too. You can have a sample of their fresh organic vegetables and fruits in season, plus buy some of the home-grown vegetables and herbs in the area.
Next, you will make your way to Santa Barbara, where you will get to see the famous Catmon tree. Catmon was the first name of the town before it became Santa Barbara. It stands alone at the front left side of the Municipal Hall Building and is the only one of its kind that can be found within the town. You will also visit the Santa Barbara Irrigation Dam, which was constructed in 1926. This dam is the oldest irrigation system in the country and the first gravity irrigation system in Visayas.
After a quick photo-op at the dam, you will proceed to Damires Hills Tierra Verde, an inland resort filled with lush greens and vegetation. It is one of the biggest contributors to the tourism industry of Iloilo, mainly because of the wide array of physical activities offered here, such as ATV rides, zipline, or bungee trampoline. You can also just relax and be one nature while enjoying the stunning hillside view.
The tour will end at Ephrathah Farm, a five-hectare land of lakatan, red lady papaya, and dragon fruit plantation and another 4.5 hectares for animal farm, fishpond, and black and pink rice. The place also features a medicinal herbal plantation and a fish and release pond with a floating cottage. Relax and enjoy the rest of the afternoon before heading back to your hotel.
