Description

Travel back in time and learn about the history of the Philippines and the events and people that made it what it is today. This class package is perfect for those who want to learn about the rich history of the Philippines, as it will tackle four subjects: pre-colonial Philippines, the Spanish period, the American period, and post-war Philippines. The topics will be covered in 4 60-minute sessions. This basic course will help you gain an understanding of Philippine society and values so you can appreciate what it means to be a Filipino.

The class schedule is flexible, and you can choose to take it 4 days in a row, every other day, or even one class a week. Finalize your schedule and wait for the Zoom meeting link that will be sent to you. Your private classes will be hosted there. The classes are taught by culture experts who will be your virtual guide to the historically and culturally significant places in the Philippines.

Your first class is on pre-colonial Philippines. This class will give you an overview of what the Philippines was like before the Spanish arrived in the country in 1521. Your teacher will discuss a time when the Philippines was made up of several independent states with different governments and cultures.

The session on the Spanish period is your next class and will tackle the time between 1521 and 1898. 300 years of Spanish rule is bound to make a mark on any country, and up to today, you can see many Spanish influences and traditions that have endured in the Philippines.

Your 3rd class will be about the American period, which started in 1898, when the Spanish relinquished control of the country to the Americans as part of the Treaty of Paris. Finally, your last class will discuss the post-war Philippines, which takes a look at the country after all the wars and more recent historical events.
