Information about Victor Oteyza Community Art Space (VOCAS)

Victor Oteyza Community Art Space (VOCAS)

Victor Oteyza Community Art Space (VOCAS)The Victor Oteyza Community Art Space (VOCAS) in Baguio City is a unique cultural hub, celebrating both the visual arts and the heritage of the Cordilleras. Located on the fifth floor of the L’Azotea Building on Session Road, VOCAS serves as a gallery, an artist’s space, and a venue for performances, including music concerts and homegrown theater. The space is named in honor of Victor Oteyza, a pioneering modern artist from Baguio, and was established by his nephew, the renowned filmmaker Kidlat Tahimik. It offers a blend of exhibitions featuring local and national artists, alongside a cozy vegetarian café, "Oh My Gulay," which serves organic, plant-based dishes. The venue is not just a place to view art but a platform for community engagement through its regular events and art shows, often accompanied by performances.

Best Time to Visit

VOCAS is open year-round, with special exhibitions and events typically hosted every six weeks, which makes visiting during these showings particularly exciting. The best time to experience VOCAS is during the art openings, where you can enjoy both the art and the cultural performances while indulging in the café's offerings. The space is open daily from 11:00 AM, with hours extending into the evening on weekends, so visiting during late afternoons or early evenings will allow you to fully immerse in its vibrant atmosphere.
