Luli Island, Puerto Princesa
d is one of the many islands on Honda Bay located on the eastern shore of Puerto Princesa, Palawan. It is one of the more popular islands in Honda Bay included in the island hopping tour packages.
The island got its name from the vernacular words: 'lulubog' and 'lilitaw,’ which means to submerge and emerge, respectively. During high tide, the tiny island submerges, and during low tide, it appears.
Luli Island has three beautiful sandbars perfect for strolling and for taking amazing photos. Its clear emerald water is great for swimming or snorkeling. The island’s cream-colored and powder-like sand is ideal for sunbathing or just simply lazing around. Tourists enjoy fish feeding just off the beach as schools of fish swarm around their feet.
How to get there:
Hire a tricycle from the city to Sta. Lourdes Port or Honda Bay Wharf. Get the number of the driver so that he can pick you up after your trip. You can also join a guided tour.
Entrance fee:
There is a minimal entrance fee to the island and a price to rent the cottages. Camping isn’t allowed on the island. The entrance fee is around 65 pesos, while the environmental Fee is about 40 to 150 pesos depending on the port you departed from.
Best time to visit:
It is best to visit Luli Island from December to May and during low tide. Tourists must check with their tour operators or boatmen as to the most suitable time to visit the island.
