Information about Baliangao Protected Landscape and Seascape

Baliangao Protected Landscape and Seascape

The Baliangao Protected Landscape and Seascape is a wetland conservation area in northern Misamis Occidental, Philippines, near the shore of Danao Bay. It includes 294.10 hectares of terrestrial and marine regions, including mangrove, sea grass, and coral reef habitats, and is located on the boundaries of four barangays in the municipality of Baliangao. A part of the Sinian River, which flows into Danao Bay, is also included in the protected area.

At least 21 different mangrove species may be found in Baliangao, with the Rhizophora (bakawan) species dominating the area. The olive-backed sunbird, black-capped oriole, spotted dove, brahminy kite, Philippine glossy starling, kingfisher, blue-capped woodpecker, chestnut-breasted mannikin, and common egret are among the waterbird species that use it as a haven and breeding grounds.

How to get there

The quickest method of transportation from Manila to Misamis Occidental is via a flight. Once there, ride a boat to Danao Bay. Then, ride a tricycle or habal-habal to the wetland conservation area.

Best time to visit

It is best visited during the summer season, but it is open all-year-round.
