Information about Hacienda Maria
Hacienda Maria is a heritage and eco-tourism destination in Buruanga, Aklan. It spans 14 hectares and is home to various natural wonders such as two caves that house stalactite and stalagmite formations. Visitors can also hike up to waterfalls located within the property to enjoy a refreshing dip.
Along with the waterfall, the site’s staff provides “hot pot” jacuzzis as well. For this, visitors sit in a metal bowl similar to a large wok filled with warm water and placed above a small fire. The site also offers lessons on how to make lambanog, a traditional Filipino liquor made from coconut or nipa palm sap.
How to get there
Hacienda Maria is located in Brgy. Tigum, Buruanga, Aklan. It is 19 kilometers from both the Caticlan Airport and the Caticlan Jetty Port on the island. Meanwhile, it is 22 kilometers away from the Boracay Jetty Port on Boracay Island.
To visit the resort, you can take a direct flight to Caticlan or ride a ferry from Batangas International Port straight to Caticlan Jetty Port. From either point of arrival, you can take a car and continue onto Aklan West Road until you reach the site’s entrance on the side of the lane.
Otherwise, you can also join a guided tour with free transfers to get here.
Best time to visit
Hacienda Maria can be visited all year round. The best time to visit this attraction is from November to April because of the drier and cooler weather. However, it may be crowded from December and throughout the summer season since travelers tend to visit during the holidays.
