Rejano’s Bakery

A famous bakery in Marinduque, Rejano’s Bakery was started in 1946 by Timoteo Castillo. Back then, it was called Castillo Bakery, but it was renamed after his adopted son, Crisostomo Rejano, inherited it. Their popular arrowroot or uraro cookies were first created by Crisostomo’s wife, Belen, as treats to give to friends and relatives during special occasions. It then became popular outside of their circle, and since then, locals and tourists have been flocking to the bakery to have their uraro fix.

The couple’s daughter, Carmelita, has continued the legacy of her parents, and Rejano’s Bakery is actually a big help to the farmers of Marinduque. Carmelita helped the farmers get organized so they could increase their harvest and income.

Tourists visiting the bakery can buy the original uraro cookies, as well as variations with oatmeal, cinnamon, and pinipig.

Best time to visit

Since the bakery is indoors, it can be visited year-round. Just make sure to bring enough small bills for faster transactions.
