Terrazas del Flores

Terrazas del FloresTerraza del Flores is the first and only flower terraces in the country. It is situated in Sitio Tigib, Malubog, Cebu City. This one-hectare botanical garden features colorful blooms that were meticulously planted in rows on a slope, which forms terraces of flowers similar to the famed rice terraces of Northern Luzon. Over 120 species of flowers and plants make up this colorful garden, making it one of the most picturesque spots in Cebu.

The terraces started out as another hill in Barangay Malubog before Yuri Barrameda, a single father of three, began developing the area in 2009 with the help of green-thumbed residents. It took him around eight years to complete this garden, and opened its doors to the public in October 2016. The
terraces are natural and constructed of interlocking stones, which could withstand hard rains. The terraces were built by Yuri Barrameda as a testament of love for his three children since he thought that a bouquet of flowers was not enough.

Aside from learning about the flowers, which are all labeled with their
scientific name and are identified by the Botanical Society of the University of San Carlos
(USC), guests can also rent cabanas to rest in. If you're feeling hungry, you can dine at the coffee shop in the heart of the garden. From the cafe, visitors can get a sight of the town and the greenery that surrounds it. Visitors can also find a painting of Barrameda’s three kids on the cafe’s wall.

Best time to visit

It is highly recommended to visit the Terraza del Flores during the dry months of December to May. There is also minimal rainfall during these months. When it comes to the time of day, it is best to visit in the morning to get a better view of the flowers' vibrant colors, which make for a picturesque view.
