Information about Timubo Cave
Timubo Cave
A subterranean river flows through the little Timubo Cave, a cave on Camotes Island, Cebu, with two chambers. The neighboring community of Sonog gets its fresh water from this cave, which the people also use for swimming.
The cave with a stairway leading down into a tunnel, is situated in the heart of a field where corn, coconuts, and bananas are grown. The entry is narrow and very low, requiring stooping for the first two meters, however, there are concrete stairs, a handrail, and an electric light. After 20 meters, you arrive at the cave lake. To get to the main pool, you must wade through knee-deep water. The main pool, which is used for swimming, is around 2 meters deep.
The Virgin Mary was placed in the center of an alcove that was transformed into a type of altar or Lourdes Grotto, and plastic flowers were wrapped all around it.
How to get there
From the Danao van terminal, ride a pedicab to Danao Port and then ride a ferry boat bound for Consuelo Wharf. Once there, walk to Timubo Cave.
