Shimizu Island

Shimizu Island is one of the numerous ones dotting El Nido’s Bacuit Bay. This small island had become a popular spot for snorkeling because of its colorful marine life. It’s part of the Tour A island-hopping package and an alternative stopover spot for lunch, so it can get a bit crowded here during midday.

The Japanese-sounding name makes one wonder about the island’s origin. According to guides and boatmen, a group of scuba divers explored the waters of El Nido decades ago, and one of them didn’t make it back from a deep underwater tunnel. Days were spent searching for the diver’s body until it was found on an island with imposing rock formations and fine white sand. The deceased diver’s last name was Shimizu, and the island was later named after him.

How to get there

Shimizu Island can only be reached by boat on one of the El Nido Island Hopping Trips. More precisely, the El Nido Tour A is the only boat ride to Shimizu Island in Palawan.

Ticket/Entry:

The Tour A island-hopping package costs differ per person. There’s also the eco-tourism development fee, which is suitable for ten days. If you decide to hire a kayak, it’s ideal for the whole day within operating hours. 

Tour A also includes the Three Lagoons at Miniloc Island and 7 Commandos Beach. Some tour operators don’t provide drinking water with the tour package.
