Description

Explore the colorful heritage of Bacolod and nearby towns in Negros with this history tour. This tour is perfect for those who are interested in heritage houses and century-old churches, along with the many stories they contain in their history. This tour is inclusive of private car transfers, primary entrance fees, complimentary chicken inasal lunch, and services of a guide.

You will be picked up from your accommodation in Bacolod and you will travel to the Provincial Capitol Lagoon. Its large open space is perfect for a quick stroll, art appreciation, or a picnic.

Next, you will go to Negros Museum. It is a small exhibition featuring cultural and historical items from Negrense, as well as art and vintage regional toys. You will then proceed to San Sebastian Cathedral. This holy site, also known as the Bacolod Cathedral, is made of coral stones and oak.

The Pope John Paul II Tower, a 7-story structure commemorating the late Pope's meeting with Bacolod elders, is your next stop. You'll walk alongside Millionaire's Row next, a long line of grand residences dating back to the 1930s.

You will then proceed to the New Government Center. The famed New Government Center in Bacolod City, an all-white stately structure built on a big former sugarcane field, not only houses the most important local administration offices, but it also features broad lawns and a massive fountain, making it a popular hangout for locals.

Neighboring Silay City is the next destination, a town famed for its many preserved heritage houses including mansions, a pink house, and grand haciendero (plantation owner) houses turned into museums. All these structures depict an era when the sugar industry was at its peak and the region at its richest.

Next, you will pay a visit to San Diego Pro Cathedral. It is the only church with a dome in the entire Negros Occidental region. Balay Negrense, on the other hand, is a historical mansion that was once held by a sugar magnate and is now a well-kept museum.

You will also go to Hofileña Ancestral House. The late Manuel Severino Hofileña and his family resided at this ancestral house. Learn about the historic value of this house before heading to The Ruins.

Located in nearby Talisay town, The Ruins cannot be missed when traveling to Bacolod. Once an opulent mansion built by a sugar baron for his wife and family, The Ruins hold a tragic story which you'll learn on this tour. The Ruins is what its name suggests: a structure of remaining pillars and walls after it was burned down during the war, albeit well-maintained to still stand in all its grandeur. Take photos before heading to Pasalubong Centers and buy some souvenirs.

Relive the rich cultural and religious history of Bacolod with this tour. Check availability by choosing a date.
