Set out on a thrilling outdoor adventure in Bataan with this major day hike to the Tarak Ridge and Papaya River, two of the province's top natural attractions. This experience is best suited for seasoned hikers as the climb to the ridge is generally considered a major climb. The package already covers your transportation to and from the jump-off point in Bataan, the service of a guide, a personalized souvenir bag tag, and all of the necessary environment and registration fees.
Your excursion starts in the evening to ensure that you reach the ridge when the sun is up, giving you a panoramic view of the stunning landscape. A driver will fetch you from your accommodation within Metro Manila or Cavite City (1 pickup point only). After settling in the vehicle, you will begin making your way to Mariveles town in Bataan, where the trail's jump-off point is located. When you arrive, your guide will give you time to have an early breakfast (own expense) before heading to the barangay hall to register. Once you've finished registration, your guide will brief you on what to expect on the trail and the safety rules.
When you're ready, you will begin heading up the trail. As you trek, you can also take a moment to admire the environment around you as the sun rises. Along the way, you will take a break at the Papaya River, a common rest area for hikers heading to Tarak Ridge. This waterway not only serves as a source of water for travelers, but it is a picturesque attraction in the trail as well, so feel free to snap a couple of photos.
Afterward, it's time to continue the journey to Tarak Ridge's summit. As you get closer to the peak, the trail tends to get steeper and will lead you through thick forests, so make sure to wear shoes that won't slip easily. When you finally arrive at the ridge's summit, it's time to take another break as you enjoy the rewarding view from here. While resting here, you can also have an early lunch (own expense). The tour does not come with meals, however, so make sure to pack food if you plan on eating at the peak.
When you're recharged and full, you will begin your descent back to the jump-off point. At the jump-off point, you can wash up, change clothes, and take another breather before heading back into the private vehicle. Once you're good to go, the driver will drop you off back at your accommodation within Metro Manila or Cavite City. This itinerary only serves as a general guide for the hike and can vary, depending on the weather conditions and other factors during your chosen schedule.
