This camping package combines educational snorkeling sessions, ecological presentations, and expert-guided explorations to create an enlightening tropical experience.
Palawan Island, known as "The Last Frontier of the Philippines", is home to some of the country's healthiest coral reefs and most diverse marine life. The area's protected waters and thriving ecosystems make it the perfect place to learn about ocean conservation.
The northern side of Palawan is home to the stunning towns of El Nido and Coron, both offering iconic views and serving as gateways to unforgettable island hopping adventures.
This expedition travels the inviting waters between them, where you will explore the island's most beautiful and important ecological sites, famous for their vibrant reefs, incredible marine creatures, and inspiring conservation stories.
By booking this package, you’ll enjoy an enriching adventure that saves both time and money, with every detail carefully arranged for your convenience.
You'll stay two nights in a cozy nipa hut, a traditional Filipino house made from bamboo and palm leaves. Picture waking up to the sound of the ocean and feeling the cool sea breeze—it's the perfect island experience.
This package also includes convenient transfers in El Nido town, delicious meals, snacks, and drinks, photos and videos (including underwater shots), use of masks and snorkeling gear, and a course certificate at the end.
For this expedition, this package is available both ways, allowing you to start in either El Nido or Coron town, with the itinerary simply adapted based on your chosen starting point.
A day before this tour package officially starts, there will be an orientation session in the afternoon or evening. This is where you'll meet everyone else on the trip and introduce yourselves. Your guides will walk through the activities, what to prepare, and important safety tips for the journey ahead.
You'll also have the chance to take a short questionnaire about marine ecosystems (totally optional) to see what you already know, and you'll take the same quiz at the end to see how much you've learned.
After that, there's a fun presentation covering marine biology basics, conservation topics, and how to identify sea life, followed by a quick game to wrap things up.
Day 1 of your adventure begins with a scenic transfer from your accommodation in El Nido town to San Fernando port, where you will board your boat.
If you are starting in Coron town, you will meet your guide at Coron port, ready to set sail immediately into Palawan Island’s breathtaking waters.
Once you're on the boat, the crew will welcome you and give a quick safety talk so everyone knows what to expect.
Before heading out, you'll join a presentation about coral reefs to learn how they work, what lives there, and how to spot different species underwater.
Then, you'll depart for Daracotan Island, known for its unique snorkeling site: a shipwreck resting in shallow, easy-to-explore waters. This is your first learning stop, where you'll examine how fish and corals have colonized the sunken Daracotan shipwreck, treating it as an artificial reef.
For lunch, you'll enjoy good food while chatting about what you saw and getting ready for the afternoon.
After lunch, you'll visit Binulbulan Island, where there's a healthy coral reef that baby fish and small blacktip sharks use as a safe nursery. You'll snorkel with your guide and compare how different it is from the shipwreck.
You’ll also make a stop at the wonderful Pinamalayan seagrass and seaweed ecosystem. This vast underwater meadow offers a unique opportunity to actively explore and study the vital functions of these crucial habitats. If you are lucky, you might even spot sea turtles leisurely feasting in their natural environment—all within a beautiful bay protected by surrounding coral reefs.
By late afternoon, you'll arrive at Iloc Island, a peaceful paradise featuring soft white sands and lush greenery, where your campsite awaits for your first night of traditional camping.
After getting settled in your nipa hut, you can take a walk around Pical village, a small fishing community. The locals are super friendly, and your visit will give you a glimpse of everyday life in this peaceful island community.
Later, you'll have a marine talk where you'll review everything you learned today, then enjoy a delicious dinner with your group.
At night, you can gather around the campfire for music and stargazing under the incredible night sky.
On day 2, you can start with a big breakfast for another full day of adventure.
When you're set, your guide will take you to Calibangbangan Marine Protected Area, where the local community takes amazing care of their coral reefs and seagrass. You'll see turtles, rays, and cool pipefish swimming around.
You'll also stop at Takling Island, a popular tourist spot where you'll learn about the environmental impact of overtourism. You’ll see how too many boats and anchors have damaged parts of the reef, and discuss what could be done to restore and protect it better—important lessons about balancing tourism and conservation.
A tasty lunch will be served on board while you exchange insights from the morning and prepare for the afternoon learning activities.
Other stops include Cobra Island, an unspoiled destination where you'll explore the devastating effects of dynamite fishing on coral reefs and understand how destructive fishing practices damage marine ecosystems.
Then there's Cala Cala Island, an awesome place with healthy reefs serving as nursery grounds for dozens of marine species, gorgeous shorelines, and a hidden beach tucked away in the jungle that you reach through a cliff opening.
At Cala Cala Island, you'll participate in a marine life identification exercise, learning to recognize different fish, crabs, shellfish, and other sea creatures. If you're lucky, you might spot harmless reef sharks and huge sea turtles—and you'll know exactly what species they are.
After a full day of exploration, you will arrive at your second campsite, anchoring the boat near a beautiful, near-desert island in the Linapacan area, a remote cluster of islets known for some of the clearest waters in the world.
Once you have your delectable dinner, you'll participate in an intertidal ecosystem discussion before going out for an evening exploration along the shore. This hands-on activity focuses on understanding the shoreline environment and discovering the fascinating nocturnal creatures that come alive after dark.
The night ends with another campfire session, some music, and more stargazing.
On your last day, you can savor a yummy breakfast before heading out to see the absolute best reef in northern Palawan Island.
The highlight is Inapupuan Reef, considered the most incredible coral formation in the area. Here, you'll put all your learning into practice—spotting the complex relationships between species, identifying marine life on your own, and experiencing a coral reef ecosystem at its healthiest. The coral is so thick and colorful, and there's more marine life here than almost anywhere else in the world.
If time and weather allow, you may get the chance to visit the Araw Mangroves and Coral Reef. This special stop features a trek through old mangrove forests, allowing you to learn firsthand how these unique trees connect the land and ocean and why they are vital to coastal protection and marine life.
Then it's off to Ditaytayan Island, a tranquil paradise known for its incredible shoreline that stretches toward the horizon. Here, you'll first enjoy a delicious lunch accompanied by a recap discussion to revisit what you've learned and answer any final questions.
Afterward, you'll have free time to explore the stunning long stretch of sand at Ditaytayan and its surrounding marine ecosystem at your own pace, applying all the knowledge you've gained over the past three days.
If time permits, the grand finale of your three-day marine exploration is the mesmerizing Bulog Dos Island. This small yet captivating island is encircled by a magnificent, clear-water reef system.
You can enjoy a spectacular last snorkel session over the vibrant, shallow seafloor, which teems with a bustling array of schooling fish and colored coral structures, making it the perfect final sight of your immersive Palawan Island adventure.
After your fun-filled trip, your journey ends in either El Nido or Coron town, depending on your chosen starting point.
