Pump up your scuba diving resume and get certified as a PADI rescue diver while on Panglao Island in Bohol Province. If you’re one of those who put a premium on safety when it comes to scuba diving, then this two-day course is just what you need.
This course already comes with the Rescue Diver Course PADI Manual, confined dives, ten dive rescue scenarios, the use of complete diving equipment, certification, snacks, drinks, and environmental fees.
Note that you must be a certified Advanced Open Water diver to take this course. You also need to complete the Underwater Navigation Adventure Dive and Emergency First Response and Secondary Care Certificate within the past 24 months before you can enroll.
You will meet your instructor directly at the Haka Dive Center on Panglao Island. Once you arrive, they will give you a rundown of the course and what to expect afterward.
While considered the most challenging among dive courses, the PADI Rescue Diver Course can also be the most rewarding. The course equips you with skills that will help you prevent and manage challenges in the water.
Learning these skills will give you more confidence as a diver when faced with difficult situations. You will be trained to become better problem-solvers and critical thinkers underwater, thus making you a better dive buddy that others can rely on when needed.
The Rescue Diver Course provides you with an increased awareness, not only for your own sake but for your entire group. Aside from minding your own buoyancy, air, and other minor challenges, as a certified rescue diver, you will have a deeper understanding of the psychology of rescue.
To make sure you know what to do in these situations, you will participate in 10 diving scenarios over two days.
On day 1, you'll start your PADI Rescue Diver Course by learning how to handle emergency situations with confidence. In the morning, you'll meet your instructor, review key rescue concepts, and discuss emergency action plans. Then, you'll move to confined water to practice essential skills like self-rescue, assisting a panicked diver, and performing in-water artificial respiration.
In the afternoon, you'll continue refining your skills, either in confined water or the ocean. You'll learn how to safely remove an unresponsive diver from the water, take off their gear, and use underwater search patterns to locate a missing diver. Your instructor will provide feedback to help you improve before heading into open-water scenarios.
On the second day of your course, you'll take on real-life rescue scenarios in open water. In the morning, you'll practice how to manage a panicked diver, locate a missing diver, and safely bring an unconscious diver to the surface. These exercises will challenge you to stay focused and apply your training in realistic situations.
In the afternoon, you'll learn how to handle multiple diver emergencies and work as a team to complete full rescue scenarios. You'll also go through an emergency action plan and review your final exam. By the end of the course, you'll be ready to earn your PADI Rescue Diver certification and take your diving skills to the next level.
