Summary
Description
Hike the mountains of Zambales for an exhilarating adventure with this Cawag Hexa day hike. This Zambales hike already includes transfers from Manila, the assistance of a tour guide, registration and environmental fees, and a climbing certificate. You'll also enjoy some hiking freebies like the free use of GoPro8 and drone if available, and a personalized bag tag as a souvenir.
The Cawag Hexa hike stands out as a challenging day hike close to the National Capital Region. Despite its difficulty, the climb is worth it as it offers hikers a panoramic view of the West Philippine Sea, the lush grasslands of Zambales province, and stunning coves like Talisayen Cove, Anawangin Cove, and Nagsasa Cove as a rewarding treat. This hike will take you to Mt. Balingkilat, Mt. Bira Bira, Mt. Naulaw, Mt. Dayungan, Mt. Cinco Picos, and Mt. Redondo summits.
At 9 PM the night before your hike, you will be picked up from your chosen location in Manila. You can choose from McDonald's Eton Centris in Quezon City, Greenfield District Mayflower Parking in Mandaluyong, or McDonald's Baclaran in Pasay. Your adventure begins with an early arrival at the Subic Municipality Fire and Rescue Team headquarters, where you'll register for the day's trek. Proceed to the Cawag Resettlement Registration Center to complete the registration process and meet the tour guide who will accompany you on your Cawag Hexa hike.
At the jump-off point, you will have a briefing and orientation before you kick off your adventure. Your first summit is Mt. Balingkilat, which you will reach after hours of trekking. At the Mt. Balingkilat campsite, you may take a quick rest before continuing your journey at the top. When you reach the summit, take a moment to appreciate the views and the sunrise as a reward for your first accomplishment.
Continue your ascent and conquer the summit of Mt. Bira Bira. It has a narrow and rocky trail, so it's best to slow your pace and be very mindful of your steps. You'll reach the summit after more or less an hour of hiking, so you may take a quick break before heading to Mt. Naulaw. When you reach the summit of Mt. Naulaw, you can already see Mt. Dayungan. You'll then continue your hike going to Mt. Dayungan. During this time, expect that it will get hotter because of the sun, plus the trail of the mountain is a bit rocky.
After a break or a quick lunch, ascend to the summit of Mt. Cinco Picos, where a stunning panorama awaits. When you reach its peak, you will see the Silanguin Cove. Here, you can take photos and get your well-deserved break before heading to the last mountain of the Cawag Hexa hike, Mt. Redondo. The trail going to Mt. Redondo summit is long and a bit easier to hike. As you reach the summit, enjoy the view, capture photos, and pat yourself on the back for accomplishing the hike.
Begin your descent from the peaks, reflecting on the challenging yet rewarding journey you had. Return to the jump-off point, where you can freshen up and buy snacks. You'll head back to Manila with a dinner stop along the way.
Conquer the summits of some of Zambales' mountains with this challenging Cawag Hexa day hike. Check the availability by choosing a date.
