Iloilo City Night Tour to Old Mansions and Heritage Landmarks with Hotel Transfers

After being picked up by your accommodation in Iloilo City at around 5 PM, the Iloilo heritage tour will start with a visit to Plaza Libertad, where the Philippine Flag was raised after Spain surrendered Iloilo in 1898. After that, you'll head to the Iloilo City Hall to learn more about the city's history. The Ker & Co Building is nearby, a structure important to the city's history, as it played a key role in Iloilo's economic growth. You'll also learn about this economic growth at your next stop, the Museum of Philippine Economic History.

After a visit to the museum, you'll head to the restored Sunburst Park. The park was named after the US Army 40th Infantry Sunburst Division, who helped free Panay Island from the Japanese during World War II. Your next stop is the Old Capital Building of Iloilo or Casa Real. The building has been declared a national landmark by the National Historical Institute. The Japanese forces used the 112-year-old building located along General Luna Street and Muelle Loney Street during World War II. The first ancestral house you'll be visiting is Casa Mariquit, an over 200-year-old Spanish house that showcases the story of the Javellana and Lopez families of Iloilo. Not too far is the Jaro Cathedral, where you will find a collection of images of male saints inside. The only female image is that of Nuestra Senora de Candelaria, or Lady of Candles, perched on a glass shrine on its façade. 

Next, you'll visit Molo Mansion, a beautiful ancestral house featuring classic Philippine colonial architecture. Afterward, you'll drop by the Eusebio-Villanueva house. It is a two-story building made of Narra wood, galvanized iron, and concrete that the Japanese used as their headquarters and functioned as their torture chamber and prison. 

You will then head to Casa Sanson Y Montinola in Jaro, a house exhibiting Spanish, Chinese, Muslim, and Filipino architectural designs. Situated along Lopez Street, the two-story house of the Montinolas shows the lifestyle of the Ilonggo elite. It is also known as the Antillan House.

After that, you will be headed to what used to be the Iloilo Provincial Jail, which is now a museum showcasing the rich history and culture of Western Visayas. Your last stop for this Iloilo tour is the Philippine American Cemetery in the Jaro district, the burial ground for Americans in Iloilo during their occupation in the Philippines.
