Explore the highlands of the Philippines through this day hike to the top of Mount Ulap in the province of Benguet.
This is a perfect experience for outdoor enthusiasts as the mountain is one of the most famous natural attractions in the area. The tour is inclusive of the service of a guide, a side trip to Gungal Rock, transfers from Baguio City, drinking water, snacks, a souvenir, and all entrance fees.
On the day of your Mount Ulap day hike, your guide will pick you up you from your accommodation within the Baguio City center at 7 AM. When you're settled in the vehicle, you'll begin making your way out of the city and toward Mount Ulap.
Upon reaching the jump-off point for the hike, you will listen to a quick briefing on safety precautions. Afterward, you’ll start the journey up to the top of Mount Ulap.
The entire trip will take around 8 to 9 hours, depending on your pace. Since the weather here is usually cooler than in the rest of the Philippines, it's best to wear comfortable clothes that you can layer in case you start to feel cold. Waterproof jackets are also essential to keep you dry throughout your climb.
As you make your way to the summit, you'll find scenic views of the nearby rolling hills, pine ridges, and towering rock formations. You will also stop by the famous Gungal Rock, a natural formation that juts out from the side of the mountain and overlooks the lush forests and hills below.
Feel free to take photos here, but remember to keep a safe distance from the edge of the cliff for your own safety. Afterward, you will continue your Mount Ulap day hike itinerary by going to the summit. At the top of Mount Ulap, you can catch your breath, enjoy the view, take more pictures, and eat some snacks before starting the descent back to the jump-off point.
