Your tour starts after your guide fetches you from your accommodations within the city at 8 AM. Afterward, you'll be escorted straight to your first stop of the day, the Dapitan Cathedral.
Along with its Spanish architecture, this church is also known for a marker near the entrance where the Philippine National Hero, Dr. Jose Rizal, was said to stand when he would hear mass here during his exile in the city in the 17th century. From the church, you'll drop by the nearby plaza before continuing onto another site connected to Jose Rizal: the Mindanao Relief Map.
Rizal made this map out of grass and cement during his time in the city. Following your visit to this attraction, you'll stop by the City Hall before visiting the Rizal Shrine, one of the most iconic sites in Dapitan. The doctor bought this 16-hectare plot after he arrived in Dapitan and eventually turned it into a space with houses, a farm, a school, and a hospital.
Years after his 1897 execution, the property was converted into a public park. During a visit here, you'll also find an amphitheater and a museum that houses some of Rizal's memorabilia. You will then end your tour with a visit to the local docking site and Dapitan Boulevard, a nice outdoor area to chill and catch the sunset.
