Turtle Point
Moalboal, found in the province of Cebu, is popular for diving. Among the beautiful dive spots in the municipality is Talisay Wall and Point. It is just a kilometer away from Panagsama Beach by boat. Talisay Wall is also considered to be a sanctuary of turtles. This is likely where it got its other name - Turtle Point. One must be patient enough because sea turtles do not usually show themselves right away.
Talisay Wall is composed of deep slopes and a steep wall with a few vertical canyons and small cathedral-like caves. This diving spot is also home to a variety of marine life such as hard and soft corals, and lots of fishes (red lionfish, cuttlefish, ghost pipefish, clownfish, frogfish, batfish, and great barracuda). Talisay Wall and Point is a good starting point for beginner divers. This dive site is often visited together with its neighboring diving spots, Bugo Point and Tongo Point.
How to get there
Take a bus bound for Bato via Barili at the South Bus Terminal in Cebu City. Do not take one that passes by Oslob as this path does not include a stop at Moalboal. Get off at the Moalboal bus stop then head to the tourism office to arrange a boat ride to Turtle Point. Otherwise, you can join a tour package that includes Turtle Point in its itinerary.
Best time to visit
Tourists can visit Turtle Point all year round. However, since it is a tropical attraction, it is best to visit in between November and April when the weather in the Philippines is drier and there are fewer chances of rainfall. Expect large crowds when visiting from March to April as this is the peak of the summer season in the country.
