One underappreciated tourism destination in Bulacan is the Bakas River, which is situated in Baranggay Matictic in the municipality of Norzagaray. A mark or trace is what the Filipino word "bakas" (meaning) actually means. Large limestone rock formations along the Bakas River contain three enormous sculptures of Jesus Christ and a statue of the Virgin Mary and Holy Trinity. This makes Bakas river a unique and wonderful destination for visitors, explorers and religious pilgrims.
Only a few sari-sari stores, all of which are situated on the farther portion of the riverfront, can be found in Bakas aside from cottages.
How to get there
Take a Del Carmen bus headed toward Garden from EDSA northbound. Take a jeepney to Garay from there, and request to be dropped off at St. Andrew church. Then, a Ask a tricycle to take you to the Bakas River.
Best time to visit
Visit during the summer months in Bulacan, which is from March to May.
