Information about Carmelite Monastery
Carmelite Monastery
Carmelite Monastery is located in Cebu. The fourth foundation of Jaro Carmel (the "Casa Madre"), Cebu Carmel, was founded in desperation with a heroic faith in the providence of God. On May 10, 1949, a novice from Jaro Carmel and five professed nuns came in Cebu.
Mary, Mediatrix of All Graces, and the Child Jesus were honored with a new Carmel dedication. The choice of titulars revealed the essence of Carmel: simplicity, infantile dependence, and reliance on the Mother of God. The Teresian Carmel reveres St. Joseph with devotion alongside Our Lady and in keeping with the example of St. Teresa, whose patronage, the first convent of the Reform was erected.
