Information about Hapao Village

Hapao Village

Located in the municipality of Hungduan in Ifugao, Hapao Village is a peaceful town that is home to vast rice fields and terraces. Its rice terraces are part of a cluster that is over 2,000 years old and covers two other villages, Nungulan and Baang. This cluster is included in the five rice terraces in the Philippine Cordilleras that are included in the list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites.

Unlike other more famous rice terraces, the ones in Hapao are wider and not as steep but still offer stunning views. This makes it easier to explore and walk through the fields. However, not that these rice terraces are one of the longest in Ifugao, so it's not recommended to walk through its entire length. The village is also home to a hot spring where visitors can enjoy a relaxing dip.

Best time to visit

The best time to visit if you want to see green rice terraces and fields are the months of April, May, October, and November. Visiting Hapao Village during the rainy season is not recommended, as the rain can make exploring the rice terraces difficult.
