Sta. Cruz Island in Zamboanga is made up of Great and Small islands. It's a populated island near Zamboanga City, in the southern part of the Philippines, and it's well-known for its pink coralline sand. The short boat voyage to the small part of the island takes around 15 minutes from the port in Zamboanga City.
Visitors will learn from the tour guide that the little Santa Cruz island is actually off-limits and only used by the military. However, you may obtain a permit from the local authorities and be allowed to descend on a boat and shoot hasty pictures for only 10 minutes. Although not as fine, the beach has white sand. Due to rip tides, the guide stated that swimming is not permitted.
How to get there
There is one route that leads to Sta. Cruz Island may be reached via motorized boat from Zamboanga's popular Paseo del Mar.
