Information about People's Park in the Sky
People's Park in the Sky
Located in Tagaytay in Cavite, People’s Park in the Sky is a park that is home to a Doppler Radar Station of the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) and the Shrine of Our Lady, Mother of Fair Love, an image of the Virgin Mary and the child Jesus. It also gives visitors stunning views of the Taal Volcano and the Tagaytay Ridge.
The park was originally called Palace in the Sky, as it was supposed to feature a guest house for the state visit of then-US President Ronald Reagan. Reagan had planned to visit the Philippines, and the Marcos administration commissioned the construction of a mansion for the distinguished guest, but it was halted when the visit was canceled. After the EDSA Revolution, which was also known as the People Power Revolution, the name was changed to People’s Park in the Sky. Today, visitors can still see the unfinished structure in the park.
Tickets and entry
There is a minimal entrance fee of PhP 50 to get inside the park.
Best time to visit
The park is open daily from 6 AM to 7 PM. If you want to avoid crowds, visit on a weekday, as it is one of the tourist spots in Tagaytay that is usually packed on weekends, especially on Sundays.
