Punta Cruz Watch Tower, located in Maribojoc, Bohol, is an important historical site in the Philippines, known for its distinct isosceles triangle shape—the only one of its kind in the country. Built in 1796 by the Spanish during their colonial rule, this watchtower served as a strategic defense point against Moro pirate invaders. Positioned at the western tip of Maribojoc, it offers stunning views of nearby islands like Cebu, Siquijor, and even parts of Mindanao. Besides its architectural uniqueness, the tower is associated with local legends, such as the mystical powers of the cross at its front, which was believed to protect the town from marauders. Declared a National Historical Landmark and National Cultural Treasure, it remains one of Bohol’s most significant structures, despite damage from the 2013 earthquake. The tower has since been restored and continues to attract visitors interested in history, architecture, and scenic landscapes.

The best time to visit Punta Cruz Watch Tower is during the dry season, from November to May, when the weather is ideal for sightseeing and exploring the scenic surroundings. For those who want to catch breathtaking sunsets over the Bohol Strait, the late afternoon is particularly magical. Be mindful of tourist capacity limits inside the tower, as only 50 visitors are allowed at a time.
