Discover Philippine artistry, history, and heritage in Manila’s museums that will take you back in time. If you're a history enthusiast and a fan of the arts, then this private tour is tailored perfectly for you.
The day begins as your driver picks you up from your accommodation in selected areas of Metro Manila. Along with your guide, you'll make your way to the first destination – the National Museum.
With collections from fine arts, archaeology, ethnography, and national history, the museum showcases Filipino talent and the country’s evolution over time. The museum features works of the country’s national artists, including the largest painting in the Philippines, with a size of 4.22 x 7.675 meters, by Juan Luna — Spoliarium.
Another one of the museum’s highlights is the Manunggul Jar, a cultural treasure from 895 – 775 BC. It is a burial jar that signifies the beliefs of ancient Filipinos in the afterlife. The National Museum also recently opened the National Museum of Natural History – showcasing the country’s diverse flora and fauna which includes more than 10 galleries on plants and animals.
Your next stop will be The San Agustin Church Museum. It displays a broad collection of religious art pieces, icons, furniture, and clothing that dates back from the 16th century. In the museum, you will see a 3,400-kilogram church bell that was taken down in 1927. With its extensive collection of artworks and historical value, no wonder it's marked as a UNESCO World Heritage icon.
On your last stop, you'll visit Casa Manila. This 18th-century Museum is actually a 2-story house that is designed like a typical house from the 1800s. The facade of the house will make you feel as though you’ve been transported back in time, particularly during the Spanish colonial period, especially with the interior of the museum. It also features a café and a souvenir store that you can visit after the tour before we take you back to your hotel.
