Loboc River
The Loboc River is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Bohol. Since pre-Hispanic times, the Loboc River has played an important role in the lives of the locals. Loboc has served as an inland market village where agricultural goods were brought to be bartered with sea produce.
Later on, the Jesuits constructed a seminary in Loboc due to the presence of the river. The town of Loboc became a temporary capital of Bohol during World War II. Today, it is also said to be one of the cleanest rivers in the Philippines. Loboc River passes through Loay Bridge, Loboc Church, and Busay Falls.
Over the year, Loboc gained popularity among tourists because of its river cruise. Since then, many attractions in Loboc have been developed to welcome more tourists.
How to get there
Loboc River is located in the town of Loboc, which is around 26 KM from the Tagbilaran Airport. To reach the river from Tagbilaran City, you can ride a bus or a jeepney bound for Loboc and Carmen. Make sure to ask the driver to make a stop at the Camayaan Intersection, where most river cruise operators are based. Otherwise, you can join a guided tour that includes a cruise along Loboc River for a hassle-free trip.
Best time to visit
When it comes to the weather, it is recommended to visit Loboc around December up until March when there are fewer chances of rainfall. However, take note that tourists tend to flock to Bohol in late December and during Holy Week. While Loboc River is open year-round, cruises usually operate from 10 AM to 3 PM.
