Sumilon Island

Sumilon Island is one of Oslob's best treasures. It is a stunning but tiny island with crystal clear water and just a short boat ride from Oslob.  The island was the Philippines' first underwater protected area, and it has been a marine sanctuary since 1974. It's no joke that there's a plethora of sea species floating around Sumilon Island's crystal clean seas.

Sumilon Island's sandbar is undoubtedly the island's most famous attraction. The shape of the sandbar varies depending on the season, time of day, and temperature. On the island, there are a few other areas to visit, including a natural lagoon with mangroves and a pristine lake.

How to get there

Sumilon Island is just a 10-15 minute boat ride away from Oslob. You can rent a small pump boat from the port that will take you to the island.
 

Best time to visit

It's highly recommended to visit during the summer season in the Philippines, which generally starts in March and ends in the first weeks of June.
