巴里卡萨岛百科及旅行攻略
Balicasag Island
Balicasag Island is situated off the southwestern shore of Panglao Island in the Bohol province. Although this circle island only has a diameter of about 600 meters, it is surrounded by waters teeming with marine life. In light of the several species of aquatic animals found here, the island has been declared a marine sanctuary since 1985. It is also known as one of the top diving spots in the Philippines. Along with the colorful schools of fish that you can find when exploring the nearby waters, sea turtles have been frequently spotted here as well.
How to get there
The most convenient way of getting to this diving haven is by catching a flight to the Bohol-Panglao International Airport. Those coming from the Luzon region can fly from the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) in Manila City or the Clark International Airport in Angeles City. Meanwhile, those coming from the Mindanao region can fly from the Davao International Airport.
After landing at the Bohol-Panglao International Airport, you can take a taxi or ride a jeepney to Alona Beach. From there, you will have to look for boats that can transport you straight to Balicasag Island.
Best time to visit
Balicasag Island is open to travelers year-round. The best time to visit this diving paradise is from November to April, when the weather is cooler. During these months, there are also lesser chances of rain, allowing you to make the most of your visit.
