Samal Island or the Island Garden City of Samal in Davao del Norte is one of the popular tourist spots for those visiting Mindanao's busiest metro, Davao City. Located just 2KM away from Davao City, travelers can easily go to the island via ferry.

Samal Island is known as the largest resort city in the Philippines because it's home to over 30 resorts dotted in its white-sand beaches and islands like Kaputian Beach, Canibad Beach, Talikud Island, and many more.  The best part of staying in Samal Island is the feeling of seclusion and privacy, as it has fewer crowds compared to other resort cities in the Philippines. Aside from beautiful beaches, Samal Island tours will also have you exploring its many snorkeling and diving spots and natural attractions.

Samal Island does not have its own airport, so Davao City serves as the primary departure point. Francisco Bangoy International Airport or Davao International Airport (DVO) is the nearest gateway to Samal Island. Several Philippine destinations, including Manila, Cagayan de Oro, Cebu, Bacolod, Iloilo, Tagbilaran, Zamboanga, and Clark in Pampanga, have daily flights to Davao City.

If traveling by sea, you have to take the Palboros passenger ferry boat to Kaputian Beach on Samal Island. If traveling by bus, ride an Island City Express one. This bus will take you to Sasa Wharf from Agdao in Davao City. The bus then boards a ferry called RoRo (Roll-on, roll-off) for the trip to Samal Island.

If you're planning a trip to the beautiful island of Samal, check out this handy list of our recommended resorts that you should stay in:
