Known as the cleanest inland body of water in the Philippines, the Bugang River in Antique has become a popular spot for travelers. It has also been recognized internationally due to its pristine condition. The river goes on for about 6 km. With the help of filtration systems, the river has also become the main source of freshwater for locals of Pandan town.
Aside from swimming in its cool waters, another top activity to try when visiting the river is tubing, wherein you'll sit on an inner tube as you float down the river. If you prefer a more slow-paced journey along the river, you can go on a cruise aboard a bamboo raft instead.
The river cruise is a relaxing experience as you get to see the beauty of Bugang River surrounded by the century old trees that has protected the river’s cleanliness for a long time, and the different species of animals, and plants that can only be seen around the area.
Best time to visit
It's best to visit the Bugang River during the rainy season in the Philippines (June to November) as the water level will be higher then, making it easier to go river tubing or go on a cruise.
