Malumpati Cold Spring in Antique

One of the most popular eco-resort in the Philippines, Malumpati Cold Spring is known for its cold-spring pools and well-preserved forest. It is located in Pandan, Antique, and is often overlooked by tourists because of its location. However, many still flocked in the resort for its health benefits. In fact, many local celebrities visit the place for its quiet and calm atmosphere.

Origin of the name

Malumpati, the titular name of the resort, has a story. It comes from the local phrase “malumpat ang ati”, which means ”aetas will jump”. Aetas refers to the group of indigenous people in the Philippines. It was said that one of the favorite pasttimes of the Aetas is to jump in the crystalline waters of the spring, hence the origin of the name.

How to Get There

If you’re coming from Manila International Airport, there are planes going to Iloilo that is worth its price. From the Iloilo airport, there’s a shuttle ready to bring you to the terminal in San Pedro. Then, you can opt to take a van or bus going to Pandan. From the town proper, you have to ride a tricycle going to Malumpati.

You can also opt to ride a private van or ride a bus from Caticlan or Kalibo area, as it’s much nearer to Pandan, Antique, about 30 minutes to one hour land transfer.

Activities

You can plainly lounge around the cottages in the area or camp for free if you decide to bring your own tent. Don your swimsuits when you try swimming in its aquamarine waters. One of the most exciting activities to do out here is water tubing. Unlike rafting, you’re totally at mercy with the waves of the river.
