El Puerto Marina Beach Resort is a beach resort and vacation club located in Lingayen, Pangasinan, one of the major provinces in Luzon. If the place has a familiar ring to it, it’s because it is part of an important event in Philippine history, during the latter part of World War 2. Lingayen is the beach where General Douglas McArthur’s arrival in the Philippines was recorded in a famous photograph in January 9, 1945. In it, the American General is shown knee deep in the water, wading ashore and flanked by military soldiers, with the command ship U.S.S. Boise docking in the background. 

Today, this same beach is where El Puerto Marina has set up a relaxing, carefree place of leisure for the public, a far cry from the uniformed troops and military presence that was famously recorded in the iconic black and white image in the past.

Enjoy the cool breeze along the shoreline and take at dip on the beach. While McArthur’s soldiers didn’t have the luxury of taking off their heavy boots when they landed on these famous shores, feel free to go barefoot and relish the powdery sands tickling your toes.

How to get there

Take a bus in Manila bound for Lingayen, Pangasinan. Once there, you can ride a tricycle and tell the driver to drop you off at El Puerto Marina Beach Resort, You can also join Pangasinan guided tours to this beach resort.

Best time to visit

It is open to the public daily. However, some of their facilities, such as the water park, might be open for limited hours only per day.
