Maquinit Hot Springs

Maquinit Hot Spring

Tucked between a mangrove forest and the sea, Maquinit Hot Spring is one of the few natural saltwater hot springs in the Philippines—and a must-visit spot when exploring Coron town. Surrounded by lush greenery and dramatic coastal views, this steamy natural pool offers a soothing escape after a day of island-hopping or hiking in Palawan.

The spring’s mineral-rich waters can reach up to 40°C (104°F), perfect for easing sore muscles and relaxing the body while taking in the scenic landscape. Whether you're ending your day of adventure or looking for a peaceful activity near town, a dip in Maquinit Hot Spring is one of the top attractions in Coron not to miss.

What to Expect

The hot spring features a large stone-lined pool with natural saltwater constantly flowing from an underground geothermal source. Wooden walkways connect the pool to mangrove areas, where you can enjoy a quiet stroll and scenic views of the sea and surrounding hills. It’s especially magical at sunset, when the sky is painted in warm hues and the spring is softly lit for a cozy evening soak.

Do note that the water can be very warm, so it’s best to ease in gradually. The relaxing atmosphere makes it a favorite spot for both locals and travelers winding down their Coron itinerary.

How to Get to Maquinit Hot Spring

Maquinit Hot Spring is located about 30 minutes from Coron Town proper, accessible by tricycle or van along a partly rough but scenic coastal road. While it’s not part of island hopping tours, the most convenient way to visit is by joining the Coron Town Highlights Land Tour, which includes transfers and stops at other top attractions like Mt. Tapyas and souvenir shops.

You can also arrange private transfers from your hotel through Coron transfers, especially if you prefer a more flexible or romantic night visit.

If you're arriving via cruise, you can book this experience as part of Coron shore excursions with pickup and drop-off at the port, making it an ideal way to explore the town in a half-day trip that’s both relaxing and culturally enriching.

Best Time to Visit

The hot spring is open from early afternoon until evening, making it a perfect late-day activity. It’s especially popular after sunset, when the cooler air contrasts perfectly with the warm waters. Visit between November and May, during Palawan’s dry season, for the best experience and road conditions.
