Monasterio de Tarlac

Located atop Mount Resurrection in Tarlac, Monasterio de Tarlac is a Catholic Monastery famous for its 30-foot statue of the Risen Christ, as well as what is believed to be a relic of the Holy Cross of Jesus. This relic can be found under the chapel’s altar, enclosed in a silver ark engraved with Catholic symbols. It has a papal seal proclaiming its authenticity. The relic is believed to be the only one of its kind in Asia. Because of this, the Department of Tourism has named it “the most revered pilgrimage site” in Central Luzon. It is also one of the most visited tourist spots in Tarlac.

The monastery is located inside the Tarlac Eco-tourism Park, which is also home to a view deck and several photo spots, including a giant nest.

Tickets and entry

The monastery has a minimal entrance fee of PhP50. Since Monasterio de Tarlac is a religious site, make sure to dress appropriately as a sign of respect. Visitors wearing revealing clothing may be denied entry.

Best time to visit

The monastery is open from 10 AM to 5 PM. If you want to attend Mass, you need to be there by 10:30 AM on weekdays and 3 PM on Saturdays and Sundays. Please note that the monastery is closed to the public on Thursdays.
