Mt. Balungao
On the Philippine island of Luzon, in the Ilocos Region of Pangasinan, sits Mount Balungao, an extinct volcano. It is situated in the town of Balungao, about 5 kilometers from the town center, and rises to a height of 382 meters. Along with the nearby Balungao Hot and Cold Spring Resort, it serves as the town's primary tourist draw.
The volcano is situated close to the Province of Nueva Ecija's border in a flat agricultural area. According to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS), Mount Balungao is an inactive volcano.
How to get there
You can get there by driving along the National Road from the north. Traveling from Manila in the south to Balungao in the east requires passing through Carmen and Rosales in Pangasinan.
Best time to visit
The mountain is highly recommended to be visited during weekends.
