Naked Island forms part of a cluster of islands and islets collectively known as the “Britania
Group of Islands” located in San Agustin, Surigao del Sur. The island group’s name is taken
from the barangay where it belongs, Brgy. Britania, and which is derived from the Greek form
“Brettania” meaning “a collection of islands with individual names”.
The island is named such primarily because it is basically just a white sand bar with no
presence of any vegetation and just has small rocks around. Most visitors do not stay here long
because of fear to get sunburned having no shade to protect them, but for sun-worshippers,
Naked Island is perfect for beach-bumming and swimming.
The other famous islands from the entire group include Hagonoy Island, which boasts of a long
stretch of white sand dotted with coconut and talisay trees and is ideal for swimming for its
crystal-clear waters; Boslon Island, the largest among the group and features many limestone
formations and a powdery beach; and Hiyor-hiyoran Island, mushroom-shaped with a wide open
