Information about Paniki Falls Eco-River Park
Paniki Falls Eco-River Park
Paniki Falls Eco-River Park can be found in Kidapawan City, Cotabato in Mindanao. The park’s main tourist draw is the Paniki Falls, also known as Mawig Falls, which is located on the foothills of Mount Apo. It got its name from the bats (which are called paniki in the local language) that used to live in the area. The falls itself is a sight to behold, with one main stream flowing water to the natural pool below, which then overflows into smaller cascades.
To reach the falls, travelers have to go on a less than an hour trek from the jump-off point. Along the way, they will see rivers, lush greeneries, and a variety of animals that call the park their home. Visitors need not worry about crossing rivers, as there are hanging bridges over the Paniki River to make the trip a lot easier.
Tickets and entry
Adults need to pay PhP 500, and the entrance fee for children aged 6 to 15 is PhP 400. Kids 5 years old and below can enter the park for free. The entrance fee already comes with a guide, lunch, bottled water, a trek certificate, and a souvenir. The profits from this fee benefit the local community directly.
Best time to visit
The path to the falls may be wet and slippery during the rainy season, so for a more comfortable and safer trek, visit Paniki Falls during the warm months of April and May, when the paths to the falls are mostly dry.
