The birth of Orchard Valley is a cause from anything organic – organic food, organic farming and organic way of living. The organic farm was first established in 2002 in Pavia, Iloilo with the ultimate goal of building awareness and promoting organic farming methods.
The 31-hectare farm is divided into different segments – Vegetable Production (cabbage lettuce, herbs, fruit vegetables like eggplant and okra/lady’s finger), Fruit Production (bananas and papaya), Grains and Cereals Production (rice, corn, mungbean/monggo, and so on) and Livestock and Poultry Production (cows, pigs, goats, chickens, ducks, etc.). The farm is also into milk production and composting and investing on the honey culture from European honey bees. All the vegetables, fruits, grains and cereals are grown free from artificial fertilizers, pesticides and any chemicals which may be harmful for consumers.
With the objective of creating awareness and educating more people about organic farming, The Orchard Valley also accepts tours inside the farm where the public may experience picking fruits or vegetables and milking a cow by themselves.
The Orchard Valley is the main source of organic fruits, vegetables and meat in the province of Iloilo. It caters to different establishments like supermarkets (Iloilo Supermart), local restaurants (Mojave Grill and Steak House, Bauhinia Filipino Cuisines, etc.) and hotels (Days Hotel Iloilo). Any surplus crops/plants are sold to the public at very affordable prices during open visits.
As part of their goal to promote organic agricultural methods, the team of The Orchard Valley also engaged in a series of scientific studies that would benefit local farmers and strengthen (if not add) benefits of organic farming. The Orchard Valley has the same thrust as the local government when it comes to agriculture and tourism hence organic farming is here to stay, well at least in the municipality of Pavia.
