Summary
Description
See the scenic sights of Laoag City on this day tour. Perfect for those wanting to go sightseeing, this tour is inclusive of tour permits, all entrance fees, free hotel pick-up and drop-off, and the services of a guide.
Once your driver picks you up at your accommodations within Laoag City, you will go to the first tourist site in today’s itinerary, St. William's Cathedral. It is one of the province's most well-known churches and is the Roman Catholic Diocese of Laoag. Just a short walk from the cathedral is the Sinking Bell Tower. Built on a weak foundation centuries ago, this tower sinks at a rate of one inch every year. Take a picture with this unique sight before heading to the next stop.
That next stop is Aurora Park, previously known as Plaza de Alfonso XII. It is not only a favorite place of recreation for the locals but also a place of history as it features the Tobacco Monopoly Monument. Erected in 1881 to mark the end of the Spanish tobacco monopoly in the country, this multi-tiered obelisk is dedicated to the Spanish King Alfonso XII, who ordered such decree.
After strolling around the park, you will make your way to the Malacañang of the North. What once was the residence of the family of Ferdinand Marcos is now a museum featuring the former Philippine president’s programs during his term. The mansion overlooks Paoay Lake and is roughly ten kilometers away from Paoay Church, where you will head next.
This Roman Catholic church is well-known for its distinct architecture of massive buttresses on the sides and back of the structure. While it was established in the early 1700s, the church stood strong amidst earthquakes that shook the region over the years.
You’ll also go to the Ilocos Sand Dunes, which stretch from Currimao to Pasuquin, and include La Paz Sand Dunes, also referred to as Bantay Bimmaboy by locals. The Paoay Sand Dunes, on the other hand, offer a beautiful view of the shore on its summit. Take note that you can book an optional 4x4 ride adventure experience for this tour.
Immerse yourself in Ilocos' vibrant heritage at Batac Museum, often referred to as Marcos Museum. Before the tour ends, you’ll go to Batac Empanadahan, which is famous for its empanada, a mouthwatering Filipino delicacy filled with diverse flavors. Enjoy the rest of the day before heading back to the hotel.
Go on a fun-filled day tour of Laoag’s scenic attractions. Check the availability by choosing a date.
