Augustine, the Bishop of Hippo was a well-known theologian and prolific journalist. He was also a talented preacher and rhetorician and one of the Latin Fathers of the Church, officially recognised as a Doctor of the Church in Roman Catholicism.
The St. Augustine Parish Church of Hippo provides a rather new architecture relative to other churches in Dumaguete. It is a Roman Catholic church where one can recall the sacrifices and redemption made by Jesus Christ. Visitors may thank the Almighty God for the blessings and redemption he had bestowed upon us.
How to get there
San Agustin de Hippo Church is located only a few meters from the Carmen Pier to the south and the Carmen Sports Complex to the north. It's about 45 kilometers from Cebu Metro and it'll take you about 1.5 hours to get to the church via jeepney or van.
