Information about San Pascual Church
San Pascual Church
San Pascual Church is a well-known church in Burias Island, Masbate. According to legend, the early 1570s saw the construction of this beautiful church on Burias Island.
Even though the majority of the church's original coral, brick, and stone building is now in ruins, it is still in use today. Thankfully, though, the façade has been kept. As they credited their safety to St. Paschal Baylon's intercession, Burias' natives grew dedicated to him. That's because the pirate raids stopped when the saint's statue was installed in the parish church. They gave thanks by naming their town and parish San Pascual in honor of their benefactor, a poor but holy Spanish monk who was devoted to the Holy Eucharist.
