Japanese Cannon
Originally intended for coastal defense and as an anti-aircraft weapon for ships, this Japanese naval canon quickly gained popularity for use on land. This cannon is located close to the Baluarte de San Diego. Because the American forces captured it after the war, some refer to it as the Japanese cannon and others as the American cannon.
The cannon would appear to have been initially put aboard a Japanese battleship before being dismantled to fight the Americans here in Manila. It is a survivor of World War II, especially the Battle of Manila from February to March 1945.
How to get there
The Japanese Cannon is located opposite Rizal Park south of Intramuros. Go to Central Station on the LRT and then stroll a short distance to Baluarte de San Diego.
Best time to visit
You can visit the Japanese Cannon anytime Intramuros is open as it is a public landmark.
