Cabongaoan Beach in Pangasinan

Cabongaoan Beach

One of the must-visit attractions in Pangasinan, Cabongaoan Beach, is a stretch of creamy yellowish and pinkish sand located in Burgos. This beach is a pristine and picturesque coastal destination that features turquoise green to azure blue waters, and its sand has little to no rocks with crushed pink corals and stones that make its color.

Cabongaoan Beach is nestled in the lower west coast of the Pangasinan Province and is usually visited together with the famous Death Pool or Depth Pool. During high tide, this pool fills with water, creating a thrilling and adventurous spot for swimming and cliff diving. Death Pool is about a 20-minute walk from Cabongaoan Beach, and you will find rock formations along the way. The road going to Cabongaoan Beach is quite long, and you’ll find coconut palm trees lining the beach with bent ones that are perfect for picture taking.

At Cabongaoan Beach, you can enjoy swimming within the beach safety lines. Beyond the safety points, there are deep rock pockets and waves and currents that are not safe for swimming. There are also hotels and resorts near the beach.

Aside from swimming, watching the stunning sunset is a must-try. The Cabongaoan Beach is an ideal location to witness the beautiful sunsets of Burgos. The combination of the clear waters, rock formations, and the setting sun creates a mesmerizing view that attracts both locals and tourists.

How to get there

If you are planning to visit Cabongaoan Beach in Burgos, Pangasinan, there are three ways to reach the beach.

From Manila, go to Cubao or Pasay and look for a bus bound for Alaminos or Bolinao. The trip from Manila will take around 5 to 6 hours. Once you arrive in Alaminos, take a jeepney or tricycle to Burgos town proper. From the market, hire a tricycle to go to Cabongaoan. The tricycle ride usually takes about 45 minutes to 1 hour

A friendly tip: make sure you ask for the tricycle driver’s contact information since there are few to no tricycles within Cabongaoan Beach. If you’re about to leave the beach, just contact the tricycle driver you hired from Burgos Public Market. Also, take note of the bus schedules and trips.

If you have a private vehicle, Waze and Google Maps will help you find Cabongaoan Beach. However, the signal in Burgos is quite weak, so it’s better to navigate the map ahead of time. Take the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX), then the Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway (SCTEX). From SCTEX, switch to the Tarlac-Pangasinan-La Union Expressway (TPLEX) and exit at Urdaneta City or Pozorrubio.

Follow the signs to Alaminos or Bolinao, then head to Burgos. In Burgos, follow the signs or ask locals for directions to Cabongaoan Beach. The drive usually takes about 5-6 hours, depending on traffic.

If you’re joining a Pangasinan tour, transportation is included in the package, so you don’t have to worry about going to Cabongaoan Beach on a commute. Also, you can visit other Pangasinan tourist spots aside from the beach and Death Pool.
