Information about Spring of Youth
Spring of Youth
The Rakuh-a-idi Spring in Mahatao, Batanes is a hidden gem when it comes to talking about attractions in Batanes. Also called the Spring of Youth and the Fountain of Youth, the natural spring pool overlooks the beach and the scenic Mount Iraya, making it a place of relaxation and solace for locals and travelers.
Its name comes from the belief that the cold water spring can bring back one’s youth. This can be attributed to the spring’s location being tucked underneath the first settlement of the first Ivatans. The grotto of Our Lady of Lourdes can also be found beside the spring’s main water source.
Tickets and entry
Travelers need to pay an entrance fee of PhP50 upon registration. If you want to swim in the spring’s cool waters, you will need to pay PhP100.
Best time to visit
It’s best to plan your trip during the dry months of March to June so you can explore the spring and the surrounding areas without any rainfall. Batanes is also known for its stormy weather, so it’s best to avoid traveling during the rainy season.
