Information about St. James the Apostle Parish
St. James the Apostle Parish
Located atop Calvary Hills in the municipality of Iguig in Cagayan, St. James the Apostle Parish was constructed from 1765 to 1787. It is home to 14 life-size stations of the cross, making it a popular pilgrimage site for the devout. Its architecture is also unique, being one of the few churches in the country that have flying buttresses.
The hill that the parish is located on also offers beautiful views of the Cagayan River, the rolling hills, and the natural surroundings and gives visitors the chance to take in the cool breeze.
Best time to visit
The attractions of this church are mostly outdoor, so it's best to visit during the dry season, which is usually from November to May. However, do note that while the Calvary Hills can be breezy, the area can also be very sunny from late morning until early afternoon, so visit before or after that time if you want to avoid the heat.
