Tiniguiban Island is a small island located off the western coast of Guimaras Island in the Visayas region. While the island is privately owned, the owner allows visitors to rest on its shores. It has also become a popular stop during island hopping tours in Guimaras, thanks to the island's idyllic charm. However, most people drop by this island to get a glimpse of the rare red shrimps located around the island's reefs.
The shrimps are locally known as "Pulang Pasayan," and have caught the attention of tourists mainly due to their striking red hue. Their color also stands out to most visitors as the common shrimp species in the Philippines are usually a dull grey shade and only turn into bright orange hues when they are cooked.

Best time to visit

It's best to drop by the island in the summer months (March to May) when there are fewer chances of rainfall. It is also recommended to come here when the tide is high (usually in the mornings) as this is when the red shrimps are active.
