Information about Torongan Cave
Torongan Cave
This cave in Batanes is not only beautiful, but it is witness to the province’s ancient history. Located on the island of Itbayat, it is believed to be the first landing site of settlers from what is now known as Taiwan. These settlers are estimated to have arrived over 4,000 years ago, and since the 2000s, archeologists have recovered plenty of artifacts from the cave, including fragments of tools.
Even without this significant history, the cave is stunning in itself. Its unique stalactites are a sight to behold, welcoming visitors even at the opening of the cave. From the inside of the cave, the entrance also provides a view of the sea.
Tickets and entry
There is an environmental fee that you need to pay when exploring the island of Itbayat. This already covers Torongan Cave and other Itbayat attractions.
