Tickle your taste buds during this half-day tour of Davao’s Chocolate Museum in Malagos Garden Resort. This 5-hour package is a fun guided tour around the facilities in Malagos Garden Resort, which produces world-famous single-origin chocolates.

If you schedule your tour on the weekends, you also enjoy access to a free interactive bird show. Regardless, there is a slew of activities in store.

Learn in detail how Davao’s Malagos chocolates are produced on the Puentespina family’s farm. Called “tree to bar,” the entire process that involves sowing cacao, tending, harvesting, fermenting, drying, sorting, and roasting are all done at the farm, ethically and sustainably.

Because the cacao beans are not transported at any stage, they develop a more distinctive and pronounced taste, which has won the Malagos chocolates numerous prestigious awards. It has been named an “heirloom cacao,” recognized for its unique historic, cultural, botanical, geographical, and flavor value.

The Chocolate Museum showcases this with interactive exhibitions and beautiful displays. There is also a chocolate park with oversized sculptures of chocolate pretzels, ice-cream cones, lollipops, and donuts, plus a mug of cocoa that seem suspended in the air. Taste the Malagos treats yourself at the Chocolate Bar, or make your own at the Chocolate Laboratory.

The Malagos Garden Resort is located at the southern highlands of Davao. It also boasts the Museo de Mariposa, Science in the Park, and Bird Park, all of which you can visit inclusive of the tour package.

Museo de Mariposa is a butterfly sanctuary, while Science in the Park features interactive learning installations that kids will surely enjoy.

Meanwhile, the bird park is home to free-flying lorikeets, sunbirds, guayaberos, and peafowls. There is also a collection of parrots, hornbills, and imported ornamental poultry. The weekend bird show features wonderfully trained birds that you can feed and take pictures with.
