Frequently asked questions

What are the most popular tourist spots in Palawan?

Palawan’s best attractions are scattered throughout the island. In Puerto Princesa, you can find the Puerto Princesa Underground River, which is among the UNESCO Heritage Sites in the Philippines. Meanwhile, El Nido features Nacpan Beach, Big Lagoon, and Snake Island. On the other hand, you can find popular diving spots in the Philippines like Barracuda Lake and pristine islands in Coron. Lastly, San Vicente is best known for its stunning Long Beach.

How many days should I spend in Palawan?

As Palawan is one of the best islands in the Philippines and is home to several popular attractions, we recommend that you spend at least 8 days on the island. During your time here, it is best to stay in Puerto Princesa, El Nido, and Coron for 2 days each and spend at least one day in San Vicente and Port Barton. An 8-day trip will also most likely give you enough time to go island-hopping in El Nido, diving in Coron, and go on a Puerto Princesa Underground River tour.

What should I pack for a Palawan trip?

Since most of Palawan’s tourist spots involve swimming and island-hopping, it is best to bring swimsuits and board shorts that dry quickly. It is also recommended to pack cotton shirts, sunblock, and a hat to keep your skin safe from the sun and the heat. For your gadgets, make sure to prepare a waterproof bag to avoid getting them wet or damaged while out on island-hopping tours.

Make sure to check out our Philippine Travel Requirements page ahead of time as well to keep updated on any changes in Palawan travel requirements before your trip.

How long is the flight from Manila to Palawan?

From Manila, a flight to Puerto Princesa will take just over an hour. For those heading to El Nido, a direct flight from Manila will last about 1 hour and 20 minutes. If you are traveling to Coron, the flight should take around an hour as well. Lastly, those going to San Vicente and Port Barton, can expect the flight to last about 1 hour.

When is the best time to go to Palawan?

It is best to go on a vacation in Palawan from late November to May as this is generally considered the dry season. There will also be fewer chances of rain during these months so you can fully enjoy Palawan’s best spots like Nacpan Beach, which is considered one of the best beaches in the Philippines. Along with less rain, the currents are often calm during this season, so it is safer to try out water activities and go island-hopping in El Nido, Coron, Puerto Princesa, and more.
